On-Chip Debugger
Overview
The Z8 Encore! XP™ devices contain an integrated On-Chip Debugger (OCD) that pro-
vides advanced debugging features including:
• Reading and writing of the Register File
• Reading and writing of Program and Data Memory
• Setting of Breakpoints and Watchpoints
• Executing eZ8 CPU instructions
Architecture
The On-Chip Debugger consists of four primary functional blocks: transmitter, receiver,
auto-baud detector/generator, and debug controller. Figure 21 illustrates the architecture of
the On-Chip Debugger
