Toselectthismode,bitsPTM1andPTM0inthePTMC1registershouldbesetto11respectively.
TheTimer/CounterModeoperatesinanidenticalwaytotheCompareMatchOutputMode
generatingthesameinterruptflags.TheexceptionisthatintheTimer/CounterModethePTM
outputpinisnotused.ThereforetheabovedescriptionandTimingDiagramsfortheCompare
MatchOutputModecanbeusedtounderstanditsfunction.AsthePTMoutputpinisnotusedin
thismode,thepincanbeusedasanormalI/Opinorotherpin-sharedfunction.
PWM Output Mode
Toselectthismode,bitsPTM1andPTM0inthePTMC1registershouldbesetto10respectively
andalsothePTIO1andPTIO0bitsshouldbesetto10respectively.ThePWMfunctionwithin
thePTMisusefulforapplicationswhichrequirefunctionssuchasmotorcontrol,heatingcontrol,
illuminationcontrol,etc.Byprovidingasignaloffixedfrequencybutofvaryingdutycycleonthe
PTMoutputpin,asquarewaveACwaveformcanbegeneratedwithvaryingequivalentDCRMS
values.
AsboththeperiodanddutycycleofthePWMwaveformcanbecontrolled,thechoiceofgenerated
waveformisextremelyflexible.InthePWMmode,thePTCCLRbithasnoeffectasthePWM
period.BothoftheCCRPandCCRAregistersareusedtogeneratethePWMwaveform,oneregister
isusedtocleartheinternalcounterandthuscontrolthePWMwaveformfrequency,whiletheother
oneisusedtocontrolthedutycycle.ThePWMwaveformfrequencyanddutycyclecantherefore
becontrolledbythevaluesintheCCRAandCCRPregisters.
Aninterruptflag,oneforeachoftheCCRAandCCRP,willbegeneratedwhenacomparematch
occursfromeitherComparatorAorComparatorP.ThePTOCbitinthePTMC1registerisusedto
selecttherequiredpolarityofthePWMwaveformwhilethetwoPTIO1andPTIO0bitsareusedto
enablethePWMoutputortoforcethePTMoutputpintoafixedhighorlowlevel.ThePTPOLbit
isusedtoreversethepolarityofthePWMoutputwaveform.
