Standard Type TM Operation

ThesizeofStandardtypeTMis16-bitwideanditscoreisa16-bitcount-upcounterwhichis

drivenbyauserselectableinternalorexternalclocksource.Therearealsotwointernalcomparators

withthenames,ComparatorAandComparatorP.Thesecomparatorswillcomparethevaluein

thecounterwithCCRPandCCRAregisters.TheCCRPcomparatoris8-bitwidewhosevalueis

comparedthewithhighest8bitsinthecounterwhiletheCCRAisthesixteenbitsandtherefore

comparesallcounterbits.

Theonlywayofchangingthevalueofthe16-bitcounterusingtheapplicationprogram,isto

clearthecounterbychangingtheSTONbitfromlowtohigh.Thecounterwillalsobecleared

automaticallybyacounteroverfloworacomparematchwithoneofitsassociatedcomparators.

Whentheseconditionsoccur,aSTMinterruptsignalwillalsousuallybegenerated.TheStandard

TypeTMcanoperateinanumberofdifferentoperationalmodes,canbedrivenbydifferentclock

sourcesincludinganinputpinandcanalsocontrolanoutputpin.Alloperatingsetupconditionsare

selectedusingrelevantinternalregisters.

Standard Type TM Register Description

OveralloperationoftheStandardtypeTMiscontrolledusingaseriesofregisters.Areadonly

registerpairexiststostoretheinternalcounter16-bitvalue,whilearead/writeregisterpairexiststo

storetheinternal16-bitCCRAvalue.TheSTMRPregisterisusedtostorethe8-bitCCRPvalue.The

remainingtworegistersarecontrolregisterswhichsetupthedifferentoperatingandcontrolmodes.
