Detection threshold
The detection threshold (Dth) is the minimum value between the reference and the current
signal necessary to report a proximity detection. The Dth directly influences the detection
distance of the system. The lower Dth is, the higher the detection distance is.
Figure 11 shows the detection distance versus the Dth. This test was performed using
sensor #10 (see Figure 2).

The Dth value should be set higher than the noise amplitude to filter environmental noise
signals and to guarantee the stability of the system. Figure 12 shows the Dth versus noise.
