EEPROM Data Memory Structure TheEEPROMDataMemorycapacityis512×8bitsforthedevice.UnliketheProgramMemoryand RAMDataMemory,theEEPROMDataMemoryisnotdirectlymappedintomemoryspaceand isthereforenotdirectlyaddressableinthesamewayastheothertypesofmemory.ReadandWrite operationstotheEEPROMarecarriedoutinsinglebyteoperationsusingtwoaddressregistersand adataregisterinBank0andasinglecontrolregisterinBank1. EEPROM Registers FourregisterscontroltheoveralloperationoftheinternalEEPROMDataMemory.Thesearethe addressregisters,EEA0andEEA1,thedataregister,EEDandasinglecontrolregister,EEC.As boththeEEA0,EEA1andEEDregistersarelocatedinBank0,theycanbedirectlyaccessedin thesamewasasanyotherSpecialFunctionRegister.TheEECregisterhowever,beinglocatedin Bank1,cannotbedirectlyaddresseddirectlyandcanonlybereadfromorwrittentoindirectlyusing theMP1MemoryPointerandIndirectAddressingRegister,IAR1.BecausetheEECcontrolregister islocatedataddress40HinBank1,theMP1MemoryPointermustfirstbesettothevalue40Hand theBankPointerregister,BP,settothevalue,01H,beforeanyoperationsontheEECregisterare executed.
