High speed internal oscillator trimming

The combined standard uncertainty of the HSI frequency measurement can be calculated
by the equation bellow.
When the calibration is finished, the oscillator output frequency will be at maximum
±1/2 of
the frequency trimming step,
Δftrim, far from the desired frequency. This finite regulation
steps causing additional uncertainty which can be expressed(e) by the following equation.
The total combined uncertainty of the HSI frequency can be expressed using the equation
below.
Example
Let’s consider as a calibration signal mains, fcal, with a frequency of 50 Hz with accuracy,
δfcal, in the range of ±1%, number of calibration signal periods L = 4 and a desired output
frequency 16 MHz. Evaluation of the uncertainty of input quantities and sensitivity
coefficients are the following.
