15. Adding a Rotary Encoder
The following section shows the recommended pins / GPIO to use when adding a Rotary Encoder
(physical volume control). Sample software is available on our GitHub page:
www.github.com/iqaudio/tools) that converts physical rotation to ALSA audio volume commands.
With the rotary encoder shaft facing you and pins facing downwards:
RIGHT Pin
-> GPIO 24
(Pi pin 16)
CENTRE Pin
-> Ground
(Pi pin 14)
LEFT Pin
-> GPIO 23
(Pi pin 18)
