21 / 33 page ![]() Additional series resistors in the Wheatstone bridge string (R9 and R8) are required. These resistors adjust the common-mode voltage, and thus can accommodate for the required output voltage of VOUT = 4.5 V. To achieve the output voltage of VOUT = 4.5 V with the INA823, the limitation for the common-mode voltage is at VCM(INA823max) = 1.8 V, as shown in Figure 9-3. Figure 9-3. Screen Shot From Analog Engineer's Calculator Select R8 in the same range of the bridge resistance. In this case, R8 is chosen to be 5.05 kΩ. Resistor R9 is then calculated as follows: R9 = VCMINA823max ∙(R2−R8−R) VCMINA823max −2∙VEX = 1.8 V∙ 4.99 kΩ2−5.05 kΩ −4.99 kΩ 1.8 V −2∙5 V = 1.65 kΩ (8) Use a standard 0.1% resistor value of 1.65 kΩ. 9.2.1.3 Application Curves The following typical characteristic curve is for the circuit in Figure 9-2.
